Expedition on Salkantay Mountain
An expedition at the base of the Ausangate mountain in Cusco. A remarkable day merging exhilaration with rich cultural experiences throughout the journey. The Peruvian Andes present an exceptional opportunity for hiking, providing breathtaking vistas.
Our day begins at 4:30 AM as we depart from Cusco and travel to the town of Cusipata, where we will enjoy breakfast. We will then continue along the route to Chillihuani, the starting point of our hike.
The trek takes approximately 1 hour and 30 minutes to reach the spectacular Rainbow Mountain, renowned for its striking natural colors and breathtaking scenery, framed by majestic snow-capped peaks. Upon arrival, you will have around one hour to relax, explore the area, and capture unforgettable photographs.
Afterward, we will hike back to our vehicle and continue with a one-hour drive to enjoy lunch. In the afternoon, we will return to Cusco, arriving at Plaza San Francisco at approximately 5:30 PM, where our adventure concludes.

GENERAL INFORMATION
The minimum altitude during this excursion is 4,200 meters, while the maximum altitude reaches 5,100 meters above sea level. For this reason, we strongly recommend spending at least two days acclimatizing in Cusco or at a similar altitude before participating in the tour.
The route includes a hike of approximately 3 hours and involves an elevation gain of around 700 meters. Proper physical preparation and suitable trekking equipment are recommended to ensure a comfortable and enjoyable experience.
Ten percent (10%) of the tour value is allocated to the Green Angels Foundation in partnership with ECOLUCERNA LODGE TAMBOPATA, supporting Amazon rainforest conservation projects.
